Basketball Recap: Epiphany Drops Highest Score of Season Against Gramercy Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Epiphany). They walked away with an 81-68 victory over the Gramercy Christian Warriors on Tuesday. While the Falcons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Leading Epiphany to victory were Thomas Lathan and Finley Parker. Lathan shot 63% from the field to rack up 26 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Parker dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 assists. Those 11 assists gave Parker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wood Mattocks, who went 6-for-10 en route to 14 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Epiphany was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've passed the ball that well.

When it comes to explaining why Gramercy Christian lost, don't look at Luke Bowling. Despite the final result, he posted 30 points and five boards. With that strong performance, Bowling is now averaging an impressive 17.2 points per game. Sam Long was another key player, putting up eight points and 15 rebounds.

Epiphany's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Gramercy Christian, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Epiphany will head out on the road to take on Arendell Parrott Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gramercy Christian, they will take on Shining Light Academy in a tournament on December 4.
