Acalanes and College Park are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Acalanes Dons will head out on the road to challenge the College Park Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Acalanes is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Tuesday, Acalanes needed a bit of extra time to put away College Park. They had just enough and edged the Falcons out 4-3.
Acalanes got a great performance from Branson Smith as he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Smith has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Mason Zirkel and Keegan Goddard did most of the damage at the plate: Zirkel scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Goddard scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Ando Butner, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double.
Acalanes' win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0. As for College Park, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
