Basketball Recap: UIC College Prep Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Andre Boone Jr and Christopher Thomas

If UIC College Prep was feeling good fresh off their 63-38 takedown of Muchin College Prep last Sunday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The UIC College Prep Firecats fell 56-48 to the Bulls College Prep Bulls on Tuesday. The Firecats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bulls from their previous meeting back in February of 2023.

UIC College Prep's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Christopher Thomas, who went 6-for-11 en route to 14 points in addition to seven boards and three steals, and Andre Boone Jr, who posted seven points and four steals. Thomas is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. James Hodrick was another key player, putting up ten points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.

Even though they lost, UIC College Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

UIC College Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Bulls College Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-21 record this season.

Looking ahead, UIC College Prep will square off against Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bulls College Prep, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-40 victory against Johnson on the 13th.
