Fort Hill hasn't had much luck against Southern recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Sentinels will venture away from home to challenge the Rams at 12:00 p.m. Fort Hill will be strutting in after a victory while Southern will be coming in after a defeat.
Fort Hill is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Hancock 18-0 on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Sentinels with their most commanding win of the season.

Jake Rice and Coye Resh made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Rice tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Resh tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Rice got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI, while Resh went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Resh has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Landen Richardson was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season. Colt Resh was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Fort Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Southern fell victim to Mountain Ridge and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Miners. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Rams were not able to get on the board.
Fort Hill pushed their record up to 5-1-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Southern, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Fort Hill's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Sentinels have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Southern, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Fort Hill continue to outrun the ball?
Fort Hill was able to grind out a solid win over Southern when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sentinels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
