Recap: GRACE Christian Eagles vs. Cary Christian Knights

The GRACE Christian Eagles came tearing into Tuesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 59-40 victory over Cary Christian. Given GRACE Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Cary Christian is ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead GRACE Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Quasim Oden, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Oden is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Phillips II, who scored 16 points.

Despite the loss, Cary Christian still got an impressive performance from Andrew Neal, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Holmes, who scored eight points.

GRACE Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season. As for Cary Christian, they dropped their record down to 15-9 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

GRACE Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Wake Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. GRACE Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Wake Christian Academy likes a good challenge. Cary Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
