Baseball Game Preview: Taft Tigers vs. Blanchet Catholic Cavaliers

For the second straight game, Taft will face off against Blanchet Catholic. The Tigers will welcome the Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Taft is on a four-game streak of home wins, Blanchet Catholic a 16-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season), meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.

Taft is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Blanchet Catholic just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 2-1. The Tigers were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Cavaliers' pitcher proved too tough.

Taft saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ezra James, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Blanchet Catholic's win bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Taft, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 10-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Taft has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Blanchet Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts.
