Baseball Recap: Colton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Western Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Colton). They put the hurt on the Western Christian Pioneers with a sharp 17-7 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won three in a row.

Wyatt Kimsey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Kimsey was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Colton got a massive performance out of Wyatt Shanniak, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Shanniak a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Montgomery Robinson, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI.

Colton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.

Colton's record now sits at 6-7. As for Western Christian, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-14.
