Basketball Recap: Glascock County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Georgia School for Innovation & Classics on Monday, Glascock County came back down to earth. The Panthers took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers on Wednesday. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 58-43 to the Buccaneers when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Briarwood Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cutler Fleming out in front who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. Those 18 points gave Fleming a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Deloach, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards.

Glascock County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Briarwood Academy, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glascock County will host Edmund Burke Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Briarwood Academy, they will welcome Thomas Jefferson Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buccaneers will be up against the Jaguars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
