Compton had lost 11 straight, but after bumping their record up to 4-14 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Jordan Panthers 13-11. The Tarbabes' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last four games.
As for Jordan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15. Even if they couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
For Jordan's part, Angelina Castro was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Castro was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Michelle Hernandez made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaynacy Sablan, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.
