Baseball Recap: Beavercreek Takes a Loss

Beavercreek dropped down to 11-3 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 14-3 to the Fairmont Firebirds. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

As for Fairmont, the victory got them back to even at 7-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Fairmont's part, Brayden Vance made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Vance has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Joey Lanning was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Doty, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

While Beavercreek had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
