Basketball Game Preview: Checotah Wildcats vs. Eufaula Ironheads

After both having extra time off, the Checotah Wildcats and the Eufaula Ironheads will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Checotah is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Checotah came up short against Stilwell two weeks ago, falling 64-38. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while the Indians are ranked 65th).

While Eufaula didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Poteau two weeks ago as Eufaula made off with a 70-45 win. The Ironheads have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 25 points or more this season.

Eufaula pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Checotah, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Checotah couldn't quite finish off Eufaula in their previous meeting back in January and fell 46-43. Can Checotah avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
