Preview: Mitchell County Eagles vs. Terrell County Greenwave
The Mitchell County Eagles are on the road again on Friday and play against the Terrell County Greenwave at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Terrell County took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mitchell County, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Mitchell County narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Early County 46-43. Given Mitchell County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Early County is ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Terrell County unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 66-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Seminole County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Shaheed Huckaby, who scored 23 points. The matchup was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Michael Carter was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Mitchell County's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Terrell County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Mitchell County came up short against Terrell County when the teams last played back in January, falling 43-38. Can Mitchell County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
