            Football Recap: Gretna East Griffins vs. Platteview Trojans        
        
		
        
        
            Gretna East had won three straight at home, but  on Thursday they bumped up to 5-1 to make it four. They took their  game  with ease, bagging  a  62-21 victory over the Platteview Trojans. The Griffins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 20  points or more this season.

 Connor Sams was  his usual excellent self, rushing for 328 yards and a pair of  TDs while picking up 19.3 yards per carry, and also catching one  touchdown. Those  328  rushing yards gave  him a new career-high.  Chase Grow was another key player, rushing for 51 yards and a pair of  scores.
 They were just one part of a punishing run game: Gretna East was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 471  rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  rushed for at least 150  rushing yards in five consecutive  matchups.
As for Platteview,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 3-3. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Gretna East is ranked eighth).
 Despite the loss, Platteview still got an impressive performance from   Logan Grosdidier, who rushed for 56 yards and one  touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 168 yards and one  TD. Grosdidier got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 62 yards. Platteview also got help from  Cash Porter, who showed off his sure hands for 81  receiving yards.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gretna East will  challenge  rival Ralston  at 7:00  p.m.  on  the 10th. Meanwhile, Platteview is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Gretna  at 7:00  p.m.  on  the 10th.
