Softball Recap: Toronto Sets Scoring Season-High Against Heartland Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Toronto). They blew past the Heartland Christian Lions 29-2 on Monday. Considering the Red Knights have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Madison Asafailo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with five RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, Toronto got a massive performance out of Laney Danko, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. JJ Rebich was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Toronto always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .648. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Toronto's record now sits at 8-9. As for Heartland Christian, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Toronto will square off against Indian Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redskins have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Heartland Christian, they will take on Wellsville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
