The Varina Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Grimsley Whirlies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Grimsley will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Varina extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Blue Devils breezed past Henrico to the tune of 62-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Blue Devils just coasted through the last quarter.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grimsley). They really took it to Western Guilford for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-6 victory. The win continues a trend for the Whirlies in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won eight in a row.

Grimsley's win came from a few key players Varina will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ty Shoemake, who rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Those 61 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Micah Williams, who rushed for 24 yards and three scores.
