Baseball Recap: Florida Christian Takes a Loss

Florida Christian fell victim to Braddock and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-0. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Steven Gonzalez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Florida Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Jimenez, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Florida Christian has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Braddock, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That lines up perfectly with their 16-5-1 record this season.

Florida Christian will challenge JC Bermudez Doral at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots are facing the Thunder at the right time seeing as the Thunder are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Braddock, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Coral Shores at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 2.4, the Hurricanes 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
