Baseball Game Preview: Martinsville Artesians vs. Perry Meridian Falcons

For the second straight game, Martinsville will face off against Perry Meridian. The Artesians will head out on the road to challenge the Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Martinsville is looking for their season's first victory.

Martinsville might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-1 to Perry Meridian, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

For Perry Meridian's part, Jackson McDaniel tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). McDaniel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Perry Meridian let Jackson Lamkin and Daniel Hoffman run wild. Lamkin went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Hoffman got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most runs Lamkin has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Clymore, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Perry Meridian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win snapped Perry Meridian's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-13 record. As for Martinsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-18.
