Baseball Recap: Tug Valley Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Tug Valley was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against WestSide on Wednesday. The Panthers never let the Renegades get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. Surprisingly, this marked the Panthers' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

The result came thanks to Austin Smith's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tug Valley is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gavin Fitzpatrick, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Elijah Fluty, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Tug Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for WestSide, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Coming up, Tug Valley is taking a road trip to take on Mingo Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for WestSide, they will be playing at home against Midland Trail at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
