Football Game Preview: St. Thomas Aquinas vs. Independence

On Friday Independence take on St. Thomas Aquinas at 7:00 PM. Independence are limping into the match on a five-game losing streak.

It was all tied up at halftime, but Independence weren't quite Amite's equal in the second half when they met last Friday. Independence were completely outmatched, falling 0-35 to Amite. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Independence of the 0-36 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head.

Meanwhile, after a disappointing 7 points in the game before, St. Thomas Aquinas made sure to put some points up on the board against Pope John Paul II. St. Thomas Aquinas were fully in charge, breezing past Pope John Paul II 43-7. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point St. Thomas Aquinas had established a 31-7 advantage.

St. Thomas Aquinas's victory lifted them to 2-2 while Independence's loss dropped them down to 0-5. We'll see if St. Thomas Aquinas' success rolls on or if Independence are able to steal their positive momentum.
