Soccer Recap: Esperanza Takes a Loss

There was early excitement for Esperanza after they claimed the first goal on Friday, however, they wouldn't score again. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 3-1 defeat to the Villa Park Spartans. The loss continues a trend for the Aztecs in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now lost three in a row.

Esperanza's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5-3. As for Villa Park, they pushed their record up to 7-2-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Esperanza will take on Crean Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Villa Park, they will face off against Troy at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
