Baseball Recap: Manatee Wins Going Away Against Northeast

It's playoff time, and Manatee had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Northeast Vikings with a sharp 9-1 win on Tuesday. Considering the Hurricanes have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cooper Richardson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ashton Hovda was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Bryan Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for Manatee and bumps their season record up to 17-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Northeast, they now have a losing record of 12-13.

Looking ahead, Manatee will face off against Braden River at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games the Pirates have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Northeast does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
