Baseball Recap: Mar Vista Takes a Loss

Mar Vista suffered their closest loss since April 1, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Otay Ranch Mustangs by a score of 6-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Mariners in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost four in a row.

Mar Vista saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peter Thomas, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI Thomas has posted since back in March of 2024. Jayden Tillman was another, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Mar Vista's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Otay Ranch, their victory ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-0-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mar Vista will be taking part in a tournament against San Dieguito Academy at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Otay Ranch, they will venture away from home to take on Vista at 3:00 p.m. on March 5th.
