Basketball Recap: Greenville H Takes a Loss

Greenville H has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 37-34 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bluegrass United Bluehawks. The Hurricanes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bluehawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Greenville H lost on Friday, don't look at Macie Hanley. Despite the final result, she posted nine points along with five boards and three steals. Izzy Williams was another key player, putting up four points.

Even though they lost, Greenville H smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Bluegrass United was led to victory by Allie McGuire and Marty Gordon. McGuire scored nine points and five rebounds, while Gordon earned six points and four steals. McGuire is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Greenville H's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Bluegrass United, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-20 record this season.

Greenville H has already played their next contest, a 42-32 loss against HRK on the 22nd. Bluegrass United has also already played their next matchup (against Northside L), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
