Softball Recap: Nickerson Takes a Loss

Nickerson managed to slip by Lyons the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Nickerson lost 16-9 to Lyons on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered against the Lions since April 2, 2019.

Kaitlyn Kreutzer was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Taylor Huggard also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Kreutzer wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Nickerson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They got six more hits than Lyons' also-impressive total of 12.

Nickerson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Lyons, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Nickerson Panthers challenge Hoisington Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give Nickerson their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Lyons, they will head out to challenge Larned at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
