Porter-Gaud proved they can win big last Monday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the First Baptist School Hurricanes 2-1. The win was all the more spectacular given the Cyclones' disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Hurricanes are ranked ninth).

Porter-Gaud's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for First Baptist School, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Porter-Gaud will take on Northwood Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for First Baptist School, they will challenge Hilton Head Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
