Merced waltzed into their contest on Thursday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Golden Valley Cougars. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Haiden Priddell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madison Cabral, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bree Pimentel, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5.

Merced pushed their record up to 12-2-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Golden Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Merced has already played their next matchup (against Atwater), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Golden Valley, they will take on El Capitan at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars are facing the Gauchos at the right time seeing as the Gauchos are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
