Basketball Recap: Independence Home School Drops Season-High Score on Ozanam

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Independence Home School). They really took it to Ozanam for the full four quarters, racking up a 91-43 victory. The Lions haven't had any issues with Ozanam recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Joe Young continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 51 points. The game was his third in a row with at least 20 points. Jaydan Southerland was another key player, posting 14 points.

Ozanam's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damontae Balmat, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Balmat also put up a block, which washis first of the season. Another player making a difference was Harlem Henderson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Independence Home School's record now sits at 10-7. As for Ozanam, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence Home School will challenge Frontier STEM at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. As for Ozanam, they will take on St. Vincent de Paul Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
