Softball Recap: Oak Hill Oaks vs. Clay Panthers

Oak Hill had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-11 to make it eight. They came up short against the Clay Panthers, falling 15-2. The Oaks were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Clay, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by eight runs or more this season.

For Clay's part, Laney Shepherd was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Shepherd was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 13 matchups.

In other batting news, Clay got a massive performance out of Elin Shaw, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Shaw has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Lunsford, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs.

Coming up, Oak Hill will challenge Alexander at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clay, they will take on Peebles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
