The Lake Ridge Eagles will head out to challenge the Boswell Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Lake Ridge easily dispatched North Crowley last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Lake Ridge fell just short of Mansfield Legacy by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since February 10th.
Scarlett Poore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lailah Murray was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Kylee Gardner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Boswell waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Kangaroos as they made off with a 7-1 victory. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Addy Watson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Watson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Sambreigha Wright was a standout: she scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Layla David, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Boswell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .414 or higher in three consecutive games.
Boswell's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Lake Ridge, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-7.
