Basketball Recap: Hedley Owls vs. Cotton Center Elks
Hedley's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They breezed by the Cotton Center Elks to the tune of 58-23. The Owls pushed the score to 45-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Elks had little chance of recovering from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hedley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Paeton Glover, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Payton Inman, who posted 18 points in addition to four steals.
Despite the loss, Cotton Center saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nehemiah Delagarza posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Gamble, who had five points.
Hedley now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Cotton Center, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Hedley will be taking part in a tournament against Hartley at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cotton Center, they will take on Wilson in a tournament on Thursday.
