Baseball Recap: Odem's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

Odem dropped their record down to 16-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell 7-2 to the West Oso Bears. The Owls were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bears earlier this season, when they won 5-3.

Eric Swisher was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for West Oso, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

On West Oso's side, Julian Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, West Oso's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jaime Guerrero, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Guerrero is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another was Ray DeLuna, who earned two runs and one stolen base.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Odem is set to face off against their familiar foe Aransas Pass at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, West Oso will challenge rival Mathis at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
