Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Hackberry

Hackberry entered their tilt with Starks on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 4-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-0 on Tuesday.

Madden Spicer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Devin Murphy was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Hackberry's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jacob Tilotta, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Hackberry's record is now 8-6. As for Starks, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hackberry will take on DeQuincy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Starks, they will challenge Washington-Marion at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Chargin' Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.65 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
