Senior quarterback led Mountain View to first state title in six years after piling up 50 total touchdowns.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2025 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Justus Platts of Mountain View is the 2025 MaxPreps Wyoming High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot, 195-pound senior quarterback led the Buffalos to a 12-0 record and 2A state championship, the school's first since 2019.

For the season, Platts completed 63.8 percent of his attempts for 2,042 yards and 30 touchdowns against just four interceptions. He added 1,189 yards on the ground and 20 more scores.

In a 41-38 win over Big Horn in the state title game, Platts ran for 323 yards and passed for 162 more while accounting for six touchdowns. The win snapped Big Horn's 21-game win streak and chance at winning a third 2A state title over the last four years.

Platts also dominated in a 52-14 semifinal win over Lovell, running for 217 yards and four scores while completing 12 of 15 passes for 155 yards and two TDs.

Headed to Utah Tech to continue his football career next fall, Platts finished his career with 7,745 yards of total offense (4,605 passing, 3,140 rushing) and 112 total touchdowns.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
