Treasure Coast is 2-8 against Central since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Treasure Coast Titans will head out to face off against the Central Cobras at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Treasure Coast is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They managed a 57-51 win over Vero Beach.
Treasure Coast got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Torre Washington out in front who posted 12 points and seven boards. Dejuan Preston was another key player, putting up 11 points along with eight assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Central over Okeechobee in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Central blew Okeechobee out of the water with an 88-43 final score. The Cobras have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.
Central had a senior duo take command as Joseph Gayle shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a triple-double on 30 points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists and Christian Maxon went 7 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and six assists. Gayle's afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Christopher Maxon, who put up 11 points in addition to seven boards and six assists.
Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Okeechobee only racked up 12 assists.
Central is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.4 points per game. As for Treasure Coast, their win bumped their record up to 14-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Treasure Coast has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Treasure Coast ended up a good deal behind Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, losing 78-61. Can Treasure Coast avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
