Basketball Game Preview: Sunrise Mountain Miners vs. Cimarron-Memorial Spartans

The Sunrise Mountain Miners are taking a road trip to challenge the Cimarron-Memorial Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sunrise Mountain has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while Cimarron-Memorial will come in with five straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Sunrise Mountain was beaten by Canyon Springs 55-27.

Western typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Cimarron-Memorial proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 45-35 win over the Warriors.

Cimarron-Memorial is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.6 points per game. As for Sunrise Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.

Sunrise Mountain came up short against Cimarron-Memorial when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 57-45. Can Sunrise Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
