Softball Recap: Timberline Blazers vs. Peninsula Seahawks
After flying high against Aberdeen last Monday, Timberline came back down to earth. The Blazers took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Peninsula Seahawks on Saturday. The Blazers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Seahawks earlier this season, when they won 3-2.
Nevaeh Haagen and Porsha Miller put in work no matter where they played. Throwing, Haagen pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Miller tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. At bat, Haagen went 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Miller went 3-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Kayleese Dorfner led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynnli Mayr, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4.
Timberline's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 18-6-1. As for Peninsula, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.
Timberline has already played their next game, a 10-5 loss against Bishop Blanchet on the 22nd. As for Peninsula, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-7 defeat against Kennewick on the 22nd.
