Aledo is 8-1 against Saginaw since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bearcats will take on the Rough Riders at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Aledo has five straight victories, Saginaw has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Saginaw's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Aledo hadn't allowed a single run the last five times they've hit the field. Everything went the Bearcats' way against Fossil Ridge on Tuesday as they made off with a 14-0 win. Considering the Bearcats have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
MARINA TAVERAS was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was JORDYN EDINGTON, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
Aledo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fossil Ridge only posted an OBP of .222.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Saginaw and Brewer have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Rough Riders came up short against the Bears, falling 16-1.
Aledo's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Saginaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-20.
Saginaw's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Aledo has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. It's a different story for Saginaw, though, as they've only averaged .263. Will they be able to contain Aledo's hitters?
Aledo took their victory against Saginaw in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 19-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
