Softball Recap: Shepherd Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Petoskey, Shepherd was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Meridian Mustangs get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. This was payback for the Bluejays, who suffered a 4-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The result came thanks to MeKahna Seeley's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Elise McDonald was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ava King, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Shepherd's victory bumped their record up to 11-5-1. As for Meridian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Shepherd beat the Mustangs by a score of 6-2 later that day.
