Basketball Recap: Leon Madec Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hollister

Watsonville hadn't done well against Hollister recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Watsonville Wildcatz took down the Hollister Haybalers 74-55. This was payback for the Wildcatz, who suffered a 56-48 loss the last time these two teams met.

Watsonville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leon Madec, who went 11 for 18 on his way to 27 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Garcia, who went 6 of 7 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points.

Madec wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Watsonville was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Watsonville now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Hollister, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

Watsonville will be playing in front of their home fans against Stevenson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hollister, they will venture away from home to take on Marina at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
