Basketball Recap: John Paul II Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Incarnate Word Academy, John Paul II was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the New Braunfels Christian Academy Wildcats by a score of 45-35. The victory continues a trend for the Guardians in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

John Paul II found their leader in sophomore Leah Dorsey, who went 5-for-10 en route to 14 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. Those 14 points gave Dorsey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Burley, who posted seven points and seven boards.

New Braunfels Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ellie Schwandt, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds. That was a full 37.1% of New Braunfels Christian Academy's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Lily Reimer was another key player, putting up seven points and six steals.

John Paul II's win bumped their record up to 6-17. As for New Braunfels Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 17 of their last 18 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-21 record this season.

As of now, neither John Paul II nor New Braunfels Christian Academy have any future games scheduled.
