Softball Recap: Mynderse Academy Has No Trouble Against Penn Yan Academy

After losing to Penn Yan Academy the last time they met, Mynderse Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Blue Devils blew past the Mustangs 21-3 on Tuesday. Considering the Blue Devils have won four matches by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Isabella Burlew was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Burlew was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those runs marked the first that she has scored this season.

In other batting news, Danielle McDermott was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Mangum, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Mynderse Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mynderse Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Penn Yan Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Mynderse Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
