Volleyball Recap: Hickory Grove Christian Comes Up Short

Hickory Grove Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Westminster Catawba Christian Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 4th.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-10, 25-7.

Hickory Grove Christian's offense was headlined by Mackenzie Williams and Lauren White, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Sydney Donald and her seven assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Leading Westminster Catawba Christian to victory were Sophie Sherer and Joanna Boyd. Sherer had seven digs and two aces, while Boyd had six assists and four digs. Sherer is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Gabriella D'Agostino also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Hickory Grove Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, the win got them back to even at 12-12.

Hickory Grove Christian has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Carolina Day on the 3rd. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Gaston Christian on the 2nd.
