Baseball Game Preview: Burrell Bucs vs. Freeport Yellowjackets

The Burrell Bucs will face off against the Freeport Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Burrell is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Eden Christian Academy just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eden Christian Academy.

Trey Coury made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Ryan Wass was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Freeport strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They had just enough and edged out Knoch 12-10. Freeport's win was all the more impressive since the Knights were averaging only 3.88 runs allowed on the season.

Freeport's victory bumped their record up to 17-0. As for Burrell, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Burrell came out on top in a nail-biter against Freeport in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Bucs repeat their success, or do the Yellowjackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
