Baseball Preview: Riverside Pirates vs. Umatilla Vikings        
        
		
            
 The Riverside Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Umatilla Vikings at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Riverside will be strutting in after a  win while Umatilla will be coming in after a  loss.
 Riverside can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game  in Friday's  second game. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  10-9  victory over Burns. The  win was just what Riverside needed coming off of  a  13-6 defeat in their prior  match.
 Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought  matchup, but Umatilla had to settle for  a  7-6 loss against Nyssa in Saturday's  second game.
  Carter Monahan was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he  pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (he also only allowed one  walk). Monahan has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in three consecutive pitching appearances. Monahan was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Alex Valdez III and  Justus Zamudio stepped up to the plate in a big way.  Valdez III  scored a  run and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances, while  Zamudio  scored a  run while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 Riverside's victory  ended  a  ten-game drought at home  dating back to last season and  bumped them up to 2-7. As for Umatilla, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
 Riverside came up short against Umatilla when the teams last played  back in May of 2023, falling  10-7. Can Riverside avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
