Football Recap: Providence School Stallions vs. Palatka Panthers
Providence School lost against Palatka back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Stallions took a 40-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Stallions just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row dating back to last season.
Despite the loss, Providence School still got an impressive performance from Caden Jones, who rushed for 134 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Jones was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Jake Cotner was another key player, picking up 94 receiving yards and one score.
Palatka's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kedric Wright JR, who rushed for 167 yards on only seven carries. Tommy Offord also helped out as he racked up 140 rushing yards.
Providence School's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Palatka, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence School will head out to square off against Episcopal School of Jacksonville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Palatka, they are taking a road trip to face off against Santa Fe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The match will give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
