Preview: Bessemer City Yellow Jackets vs. South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls
The Bessemer City Yellow Jackets will look to defend their home field on Friday against the South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls at 7:30 p.m. Bessemer City will be strutting in after a win while South Stanly will be coming in after a defeat.
Bessemer City can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They breezed by Cherryville at home to the tune of 60-0. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Bessemer City as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Gavin Chastain was a one-man wrecking crew for Bessemer City as he threw for 329 yards and eight touchdowns while completing 85% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Achilles Littlejohn, who gained 100 total yards and three touchdowns.
Bessemer City's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Cherryville's QB won't forget Anthony Smith anytime soon given Smith sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, South Stanly's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Union Academy by a score of 14-12.
Bessemer City's win bumped their record up to 5-5. As for South Stanly, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-6.
