Baseball Recap: Atchison's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Atchison put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their undefeated season alive. They put the hurt on the Wyandotte Bulldogs with a sharp 14-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Phoenix, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brody Barnes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Barnes was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Yogi Purdy was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Leighton Boldridge, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Atchison hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wyandotte struck out eight times.

Atchison's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Wyandotte, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atchison will venture away from home to face off against Washington at 4:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Wyandotte, they will head out to take on West at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
