Softball Recap: John Bapst Memorial Crusaders vs. Belfast Lions

John Bapst Memorial kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 9-0 walloping at the hands of the Belfast Lions. John Bapst Memorial was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Belfast apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2021.

John Bapst Memorial saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Haulk, who went 1-for-3 with a double.

On Belfast's side, Jordyn MacKay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just zero earned runs on two hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Belfast let Gracie Moore and Katience Parenteau loose on the outfield. Moore scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Parenteau went 2-for-3 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI. Moore is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Danica Gray, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

The win was the third in a row for Belfast, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

John Bapst Memorial will head out on the road to face off against Waterville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Belfast, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Mount View at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
