Softball Recap: First Colonial Takes a Loss

First Colonial extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Cox Falcons, falling 10-4. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

First Colonial saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Myla Viloria, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

As for Cox, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-1. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 8, 2025 (when they won 18-0).

On Cox's side, Ella Athey-Stapleton made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. Athey-Stapleton has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Lyric Alfier and Emmy Bowen did most of the damage at the plate: Alfier went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Bowen went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Bowen has posted since back in May of 2025. Chyann Obiedo was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

First Colonial didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-13 victory against Salem on the 26th. As for Cox, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-3 defeat against Kellam on the 26th.
