Basketball Recap: Spring Valley Find Success

While Spring Valley's win against Richland Northeast wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Cavaliers 57-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since December 18, 2024.

Dominique Briggs was her usual excellent self, shooting 80% from the field en route to 17 points. Those 80% field goal percentage gave her a new career-high. Jalaya Pinckney was another key player, putting up 12 points and four steals.

Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ke'Asia Belk, who went 6-for-8 to rack up 14 points. Another player making a difference was Latia Ray, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards.

The win got Spring Valley back to even at 2-2. As for Richland Northeast, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Spring Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Irmo at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Richland Northeast, they will venture away from home to take on Airport at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
